Getting to his feet, he hacks himself free just as a frustrated Miles, who has discovered the moldies’ regenerative abilities, starts dropping sculpted fireballs all around him. Most of the moldies are stuck, as is Gareth, but that turns out to be a good thing, as some of the moldies who’d managed to avoid getting tangled up gang up on him and attempt to push him over the edge into the lava, but the vines keep him from falling off. As the moldies’ chieftain shouts at its underlings to get the interloper, Elvraema whips out the entangling wand she took from the evil druid in the Sunless Citadel and suddenly there are lots of vines wrapping themselves around ankles and waists. First, Gareth charges in and yanks the grung away from the edge, slicing its bonds with his blade in the process. Things don’t go well for the vegepygmy tribe. Some of the party doesn’t want to upset their new “friends”, but others don’t want to see the helpless grung pushed into the lava either. Miles can understand his croaks for help. It would appear that some kind of sacrifice is about to occur! There is even a dog-like plant creature covered in thorns among them.
Using friendly gestures, they encourage the Dhavian Flames to slip through a hole in the back wall of the building and trek down an overgrown side street towards the lava pit.Īs our intrepid explorers near the edge, they spy a whole group of moldies dancing around a struggling form tied up in vines and placed right by the edge. The moldies, as they are also sometimes known, talk among themselves and decide to invite the adventurers to follow them.
Those roars that echo off the canyon walls must come from the king. OK, so “King of Feathers” equals a tyrannosaurus. When Gareth gives them the toy dinosaur, they point at it and say it looks like the King of Feathers! An offering of honey stops them from fleeing, and Miles uses his scroll of comprehend languages in order to understand what they are saying to each other. Later, they come across a pair of vegepygmies. While searching one building, Gareth finds a broken, discarded children’s toy: a wooden t-rex missing one of its arms. After a much-needed long rest, they set out again to explore more of the lost city of Omu. Retreating from Shagambi’s shrine, the Dhavian Flames regroup at their camp.
